A Pig's Tale: Hog Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami-Dade Mayor.

While perhaps not at the same level as pardoning festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, donated by a local firefighter, was christened after the popular vernacular phrase of young people yelling “6-7” – deriving from a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently named “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the character of Miami: joyful, varied, and based in heritage that bring people together. Annually, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
