Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it fails to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the performance was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The diverse array of performers appearing on Lullaby features a range of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the benefit event, which successfully generated a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of producers and composers. The song features a combination of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These donations will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure explained. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the area was characterized as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of property reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“In that context, a handful of millions won't make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is launching this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
