Heavy Precipitation Aggravate Conditions for Evacuated Gazans, UN Alert
Persistent storms over the last seven days have intensified the already dire situation of the vast number of uprooted civilians in the region, according to humanitarian agencies.
"Awful" Conditions Poses Serious Threats
A representative characterized the recent storm as "terrible", with rain so heavy that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.
"These conditions was exceptionally horrendous for the families. The heavy rains were so intense... And the gales were so powerful," stated the spokesperson.
Officials express extreme worry that minors living in makeshift shelters in wet attire will succumb to hypothermia and additional illnesses.
Casualties and Extensive Damage
The health ministry have stated that one baby has died from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have been killed in structural failures caused by the severe weather.
Further statements indicate a greater fatality count. Officials said that numerous residential buildings had collapsed completely and many others had sustained partial collapse.

Relief Operations Considered Inadequate
Groups have escalated shipments of tents, bedding and garments following the truce began, but they have said there is remains not enough aid entering.
"We are striving constantly to provide that relief and to distribute it, but the size of the necessities is so immense that we are faced with many thousands of individuals and minors who are genuinely enduring hardship each evening," cautioned one spokesperson.
Future Challenges and Truce Provisions
The next stage of the ceasefire involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the removal of personnel, and other terms.
Humanitarian bodies have underscored the imperative for "greater and continuous humanitarian assistance to meet immediate and future requirements."
The conflict was sparked by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Later actions have led to a high number of casualties in the territory, based on health ministry reports.
