LA Explodes in Jubilation as Los Angeles Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Victory
The City of Angels experienced citywide celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-match World Series title. Supporters worldwide joined Angelenos in celebration, marking the first time in 25 years that a franchise has achieved consecutive championships.
Victory Parade Attracts Enormous Crowds
Local celebrations included a procession through the city center on Monday morning, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Social media videos show thousands of Los Angeles residents packing downtown streets, many carrying handmade banners and team flags. The team was seen riding high on a open-top bus through the crowds, raising the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“My focus is already about the next championship we’re going to achieve this,” the star player stated through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at Dodger Stadium, where the team walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and Ice Cube driving a Pacific blue classic car around the field.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Athlete Responses
Celebrations began well before the procession, with Dodgers fans lighting fireworks in the streets of the city center on the previous evening.
The World Series MVP, named the MVP of the championship, spoke plainly about the victory.
“Losing is not an option,” he said. “I adore this team. This city means everything to me.”
Varied Responses and Community Spirit
However, Mark Walter received a cooler welcome at the celebration. Video footage from the gathering appear to show Walter walking onstage to a combination of applause and boos, with negative shouts interrupting his address.
The World Series acted as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An approximate 225,000 people showed up to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player one athlete, fans this year demonstrated as much if not more support.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” he said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
