Palestinian-American Teenager Liberated Following Nine-Month Period in Israel's Detention

An American-Palestinian teenager who spent nine months in Israel's custody without charge was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old at the time of his arrest this past winter throughout the West Bank territory, where he was visiting while residing in Florida for allegedly throwing stones against settlement residents, allegations he repeatedly contested.

The US state department applauded the teenager's freedom.

Mohammed, now 16, needed medical care for treatment immediately after release, according to close relatives.

Family described him as pale, underweight, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.

Through an official statement, the youth's uncle conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Right now, we are focused on providing Mohammed with urgent medical care he needs following exposure to Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances for months."

US officials stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance to Mohammed's family.

{"The Trump Administration gives utmost importance to ensuring the safety of US citizens"," it added.

Several congressional representatives submitted a formal letter to the state department and the administration, urging greater action to secure his release.

Mohammed's parent, with four children who runs an ice cream business from Florida, previously claimed Mohammed acknowledged allegations to throwing stones due to physical abuse.

He had not seen or communicated with his son since February, learning information solely about his son's condition via legal paperwork.

The teenager remained lacking indictment in Ofer prison throughout the occupied territory.

The facility also contains grown detainees, featuring prisoners sentenced regarding severe security violations and homicide.

There are around 350 Palestinian minors in security custody being held in Israeli jails, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Several lack formal charges along with monitoring agencies, including UN bodies, report instances of mistreatment and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said relatives would persist in advocating demanding accountability for their family member their cousin Sayfollah.

This young American-Palestinian who the Palestinian health ministry said succumbed to assault by radical settlers following tensions in July.

During that period, defense forces stated officials were investigating reports a Palestinian civilian had died.

The two cousins had worked together in the family ice cream shop based in Florida.

No one has been charged with Sayfollah's killing.

"We demand United States leadership to safeguard our relatives," Mr Kadur said.
