Spurs Boss Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Fans'
The Cottagers Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on Frank
Tottenham Hotspur fans who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "they cannot be true Tottenham fans" by boss Thomas Frank.
Spurs conceded a pair of goals in the opening initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th Premier League at home loss of the year.
But the primary topic of discussion was the visitors' next score when the keeper lost the ball well outside his box.
He came out to handle a long ball and took the ball towards the touchline.
But, rather than booting it into touch, the Italian turned and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.
King passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six metres.
Seconds afterwards when the ball came to Vicario once more, some Spurs fans jeered him.
Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.
A particular of those booing sessions truly angered Frank.
"I heard a few of our fans apparently jeered the situation and booed after, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the fans' response to his goalkeeper.
"[They] can't be true Tottenham fans that do that. Fair enough booing after the match, no problem, but when we are in play, we are backing one another, we are behind each other going forward."
Tete had given the visitors a early advantage prior to Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second period performance.
Ex- Premier League keeper Hart remarked that the second goal was "totally avoidable".
"I do appreciate the supporters' disappointment," Hart added. "I am aware the role Vicario is performing. He's a excellent squad member, he's a true figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.
"He was heavily involved in what ended up to be the winning goal."
'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'
Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Game
Italian national team Vicario is in his third season with Spurs.
He said after the game that he had to accept the criticism.
"The second goal was a error of mine, I take responsibility for it," he said.
"The intent was to clear the ball far and I just struck the ball in a poor manner. It was an more difficult mountain to climb."
He stated receiving jeers "is part of football".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "We can't be influenced by the situation in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.
"It's on the team to stay more composed, to concentrate on our own performance. We are lacking in calmness and calmness to overturn results. This match is a poor loss and it's tough to take."
'It Shocked Me Nobody Went Back to the Line'
Despite the keeper's error, it was far from an simple goal for Wilson to convert.
In fact it was the next longest-range top division score of the season – after Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which interestingly also came on the same day.
Wilson stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to aim for.
10 seconds elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and the midfielder striking – which was five moments following the clearance.
"It seemed to me like the keeper was out of the area for a long time," Wilson remarked.
"It amazed me not one of the back four went back to the line. When not one of them defended the goal, my eyes sparked a bit.
"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a bit of additional time. Then it was all about attempting to achieve the correct connection and place it towards goal. I felt a positive feeling, as soon as it left my foot, that it was on the right line."
'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Work Against You'
Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank
Although Vicario's error dominated coverage, this was an all-round bad performance for Tottenham to continue their home woes.
This was their 10th home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a joint team record matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.
They still have home fixtures against the manager's former club Brentford and title holders the Reds to come prior to the end of the year.
Just a single of those victories have come after Frank replaced his predecessor in the off-season.
"If you are down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said Frank.
"When you're in a poor run, all aspects seems to work against you as well – the opening was a deflected shot, the next is a error from Vic.
"The outcome puts us in a place where we have suffered an additional game. Every game has a unique narrative, today we lost in the first six minutes.
"We simply need to keep working. The second half was much better and with luck something we can use to learn."
Tottenham have lost four consecutive at home capital clashes for the initial time in the top division.
And they are averaging nine point five attempts and 3.2 shots on target per game in the division – their lowest averages on file in a one season (dating back to 2003-04).
Former Fulham midfield player Murphy commented that Frank has to endure the criticism.
"He's got accept the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's accepted a prestigious role at a major football club with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.
"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
