The Manager's Stance on Celtic

The Ipswich boss referred to the Glasgow giants as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The mid-thirties took charge of Ipswich in 2021 and guided the team to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they won just a handful of victories last season as they were relegated back to the second division and they presently occupy 12th in England's second tier.

"I have not had any of those discussions," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland youth international said when asked about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my concentration is this week.

"I have a special position here at a remarkable club. And we're at a really important phase of the season. Everything external hasn't reached my radar."

Context and Agreement Aspects

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances.

"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about these. "It's unlikely all people has to go around and declare what they were, but of course it's a massive football club."

The coach agreed to a fresh multi-year deal in 2024 and was questioned about his alleged buyout clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he replied. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you regardless!

"I approach this job like I'll be Ipswich manager forever. I know that's not invariably going to be the case, but I'll always give maximum effort as long as I remain in position."

The Welsh Coach's Position

Bellamy played for the Hoops on loan from Newcastle United in 2005, but the former Wales forward is minded to complete the current global tournament qualification, a position that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from assuming the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are presently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers the Red Devils and runners-up North Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and North Macedonia in November would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but assured of reaching that stage, due to a successful European competition campaign, even if they fail to end up their group second place.

Considering his present position, Bellamy, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would not be available until following the play-offs at the earliest.
